Cleany vs Other Cleaning Franchises in Canada

October 30, 2026

When people call me about owning a Cleany franchise, one of the first things they say is, “I’m also looking at a couple of the big names. How are you different?” It’s a fair question, and the right one to ask. Buying a franchise is a big decision, and you should compare.

So here is my honest answer, in one place. I won’t name any other brand, and every system is different, so always check their documents. What I can do is show you exactly how Cleany works and what it costs, next to the public ranges for other home-cleaning franchises in Canada.

In short: Cleany runs the full cycle for you: customers book in the Cleany App in about a minute, head office runs local ads in your territory, and an optional Cleany sales team can answer and book jobs for you. You do the cleaning and grow your team, and the total to open a Cleany franchise is $27,500 to $35,000.

What “the full cycle” means at Cleany

Most people who come to us want to clean, lead a small team and build something of their own. They don’t want to spend their evenings learning ad platforms or chasing phone calls. That’s why we built Cleany around the whole journey of a customer, from the first ad they see to the moment they pay.

Customers book in about a minute. Cleany has been digital-first since 2016 and now runs on its own app, built and improved over the years. A customer picks the service, chooses a time and books in the Cleany App in about a minute. On the day, they can track their cleaner live, a bit like booking a ride. They pay after the clean, once the work is done.

Head office runs your local ads. You don’t have to become a marketer. Our team runs local ads for you in your own territory, so the money for local marketing is spent where your customers live.

Someone can answer for you. If you’d rather keep your hands on the work, an optional Cleany sales team can answer and book jobs for you. You can also do it yourself. Your choice.

You clean and grow. With booking, marketing and answering handled, your time goes into great cleans, happy customers and building your team.

I can’t promise you a number of leads or a level of sales, and no honest franchisor should. What I can promise is that every part of the cycle has a system behind it, and you’re not building it alone.

Cleany’s fees, in plain words

Here is what you pay with Cleany:

  • Franchise fee: $25,000. This gives you an exclusive territory of 100,000 to 250,000 people.
  • Set-up costs: $2,500 to $10,000. That puts the total to open at $27,500 to $35,000.
  • Royalty: 6% of gross sales.
  • Local marketing, done for you by Cleany: 5% of gross sales, spent in your territory. A minimum applies, and the first 2 months are included.
  • Technology fee: from $250 a month, with the first 6 months free.

The full fee breakdown is in our disclosure document, which we go through on the discovery call.

Questions to ask any franchisor

Whether you choose Cleany or someone else, these questions will protect you. I’d ask them of us too.

  1. Can I read the disclosure document, and how long do I have before signing? Read every page, and never feel rushed to sign.
  2. What exactly do the ongoing fees pay for? Ask how each percentage and monthly fee is spent, and whether there are minimums.
  3. Who brings in customers, and how? Ask what is done for you and what is on you, and get it in writing.
  4. Can I talk to current owners? Call several, not only the ones the franchisor picks. Ask what surprised them in year one.
  5. What territory do I get, and is it exclusive? Ask how big it is and how it is defined.
  6. Have I had independent advice? Have a franchise lawyer and an accountant review the documents before you sign. It’s money well spent.
